Excuse the cynicism, but over the years I have often observed what I have termed a “Ministry of Convenience”. People, truly gifted and talented, who will serve God and His church only when it suits their own timetable and agenda, or when it makes sense to them. What a sad sight! But I have delighted in people who have adopted an attitude of the “Minister without Portfolio”. People who will do anything needed, even if it requires action not consistent with their own preferred area of gifting. What a blessing!

A miracle takes place

Five loaves of bread and two fish
Blessed by God have become
An extraordinary dish
The people had sat down
Prepared to eat their fill
Now are well and truly stuffed
Their hunger levels nil
So much is still left over
Twelve baskets overflow
And maybe twelve disciples
Maybe now they know
