Serious Bible students will know that this traditional Christmas story including donkeys etc., contains theological error! Human beings love to embellish a true story. I have often wondered how future generations will be able to discern between the absolute factual and the fictional accounts of much of our history. I was happy to leave the song as is. The fact that the Christmas story has been romanticised a little, does not detract from the core truth within it.
